In built-up roofing systems, an opening where one felt layer overlaps another; caused by a wrinkle at the overlapping edge.

Overlapping rows of shaped tiles or shingles that resemble overlapping fish scales; see imbrication.

A wedge-shaped piece of wood used as part of the soffit form between tapered end pans in concrete joist construction.

A bolt having a split end; embedded in concrete, or the like, for use as an anchor.

A metal bar whose ends are split and twisted; said to resemble the tail of a fish.
